Reopened on 22 September 2022 having been closed since 31 October 2021 for major renovations.

The previous alternative name was the Fat Frog. The pub dates back to the 15th century and was originally two separate houses built in local brick. Popular with walkers and cyclists, the Chequers features a large garden with a children's play area.
