Small, characterful, Grade II-listed pub situated on Henley's central market square and dating from at least the 18th century, which re-opened in May 2025 with new operators, after refurbishment.

The pub is now operated by the owner of Gabriel Machin, the butchers shop next door, together with business partner Nigel Sutcliffe, who runs the Oarsman restaurant in Marlow. The emphasis is on high quality dining, with an interesting menu of lesser known meat cuts, supplied from the butcher's shop, as well as vegetarian and fish dishes. A dining room occupies the rear of the pub with the small wood panelled front bar still available to drinkers, although the tables there can also be booked for dining. The front bar is made cosy with a real fire.

If the second handpump is in use, then it features an ale from the Brakspear pub co approved list.

There is also a small, but attractive walled courtyard at the back of the pub, with a newly installed Boatshed to provide cover. Every Sunday evening from 5.30pm, it's burger night in the courtyard.

A full survey and update on the facilities and events will be undertaken in Summer 2025.
