See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

Dating back to 1753, then known as the Royal Oak, it became the Trooper Alehouse in 1803 after a visit by the Duke of Wellington. The central bar has original low beams and is decorated with military prints. A converted stable adjoining the pub, the Troopers Eating House, has seating for 60 diners. A popular destination for cyclists and walkers.
