The KC is a comfortable pub that is over 100 years old, and was a former Branch pub of the year. For the current owners the condition of the eight real ales on offer is very important, and it can be purchased in thirds for sampling. There are comprehensive Gin and Wine menus, and Ciders, Lagers and Guinness are available. Locally sourced fresh home made food is served Tuesday - Saturday, with Sunday lunch being a speciality. There are three seating areas around the central serving bar, and the cellar is directly below. The front rooms have open fires and a mixture of sofas, chairs and bar stools. Fresh flowers are a feature as well as daily papers, and there is an old large map of Newbury displayed on the ceiling. The train station is just 3 mins walk around the corner, and the town centre 3 mins in the other direction. Under new management with Jonny at the helm since 24 July 2023.
