Traditional old English pub which first became an inn in 1570, featuring original wood panelling dating from the English Civil War. It is reported to be the location where Cromwell's men met to plan the Battle of Edge Hill and the siege of Banbury Castle. There is a wide range of Hook Norton cask beers available, including seasonal ones. Food is served at lunchtimes and evenings. See the blackboard for the specials. The pub features many items of interest including a large selection of pub jugs and other brewery artefacts. Outside the pub there is covered seating. A pub quiz is held on Thursday night and there is a Blues Club on the first Sunday of every month.
