Town centre pub and reputedly the oldest in Reading. Re-opened 25/06/24 after a long period of closure and a big refurbishment project. The main part of the interior remains similar, layout-wise, although they have whacked through into the old toilets. The old stable unit has been brought back into use as an upmarket restaurant area. They've flattened the old car park and raised garden and turned it - very nicely - into a huge patio with some beach hut style structures off to the right. RG1 has very few beer garden options so this is guaranteed to draw the crowds.
